Welcome to The Arrowood Dispatch. This is the blog of Josh Arrowood.
I was born April 22, 1983 in Johnson City, Tennessee. I have lived in Upper Northeast Tennessee for my entire life. I was adopted after birth. I grew up on a small farm in Washington County. I attended Lamar School for my K-8 years, David Crockett High School for my high school years, and Milligan College for my college years. I received a BA in History and my teacher’s certification from Milligan College, but I have also taken classes at Walters State and ETSU.
I was married June 3, 2005 to Candice Poore. We now have two kids, Will and Reagan. Joshua William was born on June 3, 2007. He was named after me and Pres. William McKinley. Terah Reagan was born May 2, 2008. She is named from a combination of her grandmothers’ names (Terry and Sarah). Her middle name comes from President Ronald Reagan.
I have worked in several fields in my life. I worked for six years in sales and customization while in high school and college. I worked for a year as an umpire in baseball and softball for TSSAA and Little League. I worked in college for four years in the Millgan College Admissions Office mailroom. I then worked for Mountain States Health Alliance as the Mail Services Coordinator for two years. I taught 7th Grade Language Arts for one year in Morristown, Tennessee. I am in my fourth year of teaching in Greene County as a middle school Title I Computer Lab teacher for the previous three and now as a 7th grade Geography teacher. I also have been given the opportunity to be the head basketball coach and the head baseball coach.
In my spare time I enjoy coaching, reading, writing, teaching, blogging, studying, and playing sports. Some of my favorite topics to study includes sports, politics, history, religion, and economics. I also enjoy working with conservative causes that I believe in. I ran for the Republican Nomination for Tennessee District 6 State Representative in 2006. I am not planning on any political runs in the future. If the right opportunity presented itself, I would consider it, but I am too happy in education to seriously consider anything like that at this time.
